Sadly, I missed out on the epic Halloween party in Osaka yesterday, as I had a staff party to attend that I've skipped the past 2 years to boot, but it was still very enjoyable!

In the Name of the Moon, Trick or Treat! )

Today, S and I had lunch at her house (Japanese-style pasta with tuna, shiso leaves, grated daikon and ume OMG SO DERICIOUS) and then went to a craft fair in Gamagoori. Too bad it started raining about 15 minutes after we arrived! D: Which is weird, since it was nice and sunny in the morning. And at the fair, we saw a booth selling shaved ice! XD

Have a video: A taiko drum performance we spotted upon arrival.

You might have heard about Typhoon Melor/#18 uh when did the other 17 happen? on the news.

Remember that river I live next to?

IT IS KINDA NEAR THE "DANGEROUS" LEVEL. THERE ARE 2 FIRE TRUCKS OUTSIDE, FIREFIGHTERS CURRENTLY GAUGING THE WATER LEVELS. I went out and tried to take photos, but took dark.

This is supposed to be a big storm, but my biggest worry is that there'll be torrential rain --> FLOODING THE SECOND.

If this happens, my co-worker has offered me shelter on her 2nd floor apt., LOL.

I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER FLOOD.

*scrambling to get everything off the floor LIEK WOAH*

First week of summer vacation is almost over. I've been spending most of the time trying to finish copyhon for event next weekend, though I took a much needed break Wed-Friday.

All for now! Hopefully more photos if/when I go do more fun things! Now I'm off to collapse for a few hours, the sun is already starting to rise here...

Train arrived just as the last Atsumi line train had left, so had to shell out 1160 for cab fare--considered walking home, but not in the pouring rain carrying luggage.

Dead tired, but a short entry before I go and collapse in my bed.

Went to see the Naruto movie on Sat. EPIC WIN. POSSIBLY THE BEST NARUTO MOVIE THUS FAR, but more on that later.

Went to the Naruto live action show today. A DERICIOUS BLEND OF HILARITY, WIN, FAIL AND LAME.

All for now. Currently raining akin to the flood-levels of last August, so praying I don't wake up underwater. >___>

EDIT: OH SHIT THEY ARE MAKING ANNOUCEMENTS ABOUT THE RIVER'S WATER LEVEL BUT I CAN'T MAKE OUT WHAT IS BEING SAID

awaiting next week, today.

FAIL.
Karaoke practice with Yuko and Sawako was fun, but ended up spending half the day with them, which killed my plans for Nagoya (I'm usually coming back around 3-4). Also am being forced to wear PINK, though I gave in because they are stone cold set in their ways of pink = MEGA KAWAII MOE MOE YOU ARE NOT FEMALE ENOUGH IF YOU DISLIKE THIS COLOR DESU. Blargh, whatever, it got us out of the store faster.

Next on the list was getting together my XBOX HUGE stack of doujinshi and hauling them down to Lashinbang to sell them off. I was told it'd be around 40 minutes for them to estimate the value--no prob, I went off to the station bldg. and did some browsing. Upon returning, I was offered 350 for one book (which I'm sure they'll sell for 1000), and then the rest.

A MEASLY ONE HUNDRED YEN FOR A STACK OF ABOUT FIFTY.

WHAT. THE. FUCKING. FUCK.

I understand prices are predetermined by some mystical, impossible to figure out system, but CHRIST WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE. Think I'll try my luck at Mandarake when I go back to Osaka in August.

Oh well. Off to Nagoya tomorrow! Now back to working on circle cut and organizing things for lolita sales.

Last weekend was C's wedding in Kobe. I came in on the tail end of the swine flu panic, so nobody gave me dirty looks because I coughed/didn't wear a mask.

Was originally going to put the photos under an lj-cut, but there are 38 of them! Way too many, so take a gander here: http://s355.photobucket.com/albums/r472/okumoto2/kobe%20wedding/

One of my Friday classes is full of rather... genki students, one of them being a bratty boy who cannot sit still for more than 30 seconds. I taught them when I first started, and now my endless good fortune has put them back on my schedule after 1.5 years. LUCKY ME.

Anyway, I was explaining a phonics game, said boy M and his friend H are horseplaying--H kicks M in the chest, knocks him backwards. I warn H to knock it off, which he does. M starts flipping out and smacking H repeatedly in the head; I tell him to stop, and then he smacks ME in the face.

THIS I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TOLERATE IN MY CLASSES.

I yank him by the arm, telling him in jgo that if he can't stop hitting everyone, then he can wait with his mother until he calms down. By then, he's visibly resisting, telling me that he'll stop, wait in the classroom, etc, but I'll have none of it. I open the door to the waiting room, and after briefly explaining the situation, pass him off to his mother.

Long and short of it, mom talked to both M and H, made them apologize to each other, and laid the verbal smackdown on M. HARD. This am I very thankful for, as I've witnessed too often undisciplined children walking all over their weak-willed parents. After class finished and I went to lock the waiting room, I saw M sitting on the floor sulking/crying, after he'd apparently smacked his little sister (who is also my student, and thankfully nothing like her brother)?! Even though he was a little monster and totally didn't deserve it, I still gave him candy.

Hopefully having his mother discipline him in public will him adjust his attitude in the right direction.

Golden Week!

In Osaka, chillin' at [info]sankakukoen's place. Came in on Friday, then headed to Holiday Osaka to see HEAR perform. To my horror, they were slated to perform dead last, so I was stuck there for about NINE HOURS. D: On the plus side, I now have another band that I like--SWEET MADONNA; they're not very known yet, but their music was pretty nice and of course the band full of dericious eye candy, HEEE. :D

HEAR finally came out, played 3 songs, and then did an encore of Barcode. I had wanted to stay and talk to them after the show, but I was already dead tired, so I walked back to Osaka station to get my luggage, then made the trek to [info]sankakukoen's apt. She was already in bed when I got there, but we chatted briefly then I passed out.

Saturday was slow--we headed out to Denden Town to do some light shopping/lunch. We ate at Meibutsu Curry, an apparently "famous" curry joint with rather mediocre food, but it was cheap! We had a good laugh afterwards at the guy sitting across from us, eating 551 Horai meat buns in front of the server and being told "dame!".

This is their signature dish--curry rice with raw egg in the middle, and you add Worcestershire sauce to your liking.

Lots of other tourons customers were taking photos, so we figured why not!

After that, we stopped at Mickey D's for ice cream, then spilt as she went off to work, and I returned to spend the majority of the day inking pages. WHICH I AM FINALLY DONE WITH HALLELUJAH.

We'll soon be off to Shinsaibashi, for some epic shopping--today is an event day at H, so I get to surreptitiously gawk at see Tastyfine again! :D

Went to Nagoya today to meet my friend A, whom I haven't seen since I first came back in 2007. Found out why she's been so busy--she got herself a man! Dating her work senpai, they've been together for about six months. :D She showed me a picture and he's quite handsome KINDA JEALOUS AM I GOING TO BE SINGLE FOREVER

Our plans for the day were to have lunch, visit Atsuta Shrine, then perhaps troll about various shopping malls til late afternoon...but everything wasn't according to plan )

Had a great time visiting one of my old students (not the old ladies LOL), but I started feeling really bad on the train ride home. Got home, changed, took some aspirin and immediately went to bed.

Also, Tara sorry for not cmailing you back--I tried but then cmail decided to be retarded and randomly bounced back my messages. D:

Last night I set my alarm for 7:30, as I planned to get up and do laundry and clean and be VERY PRODUCTIVE. Alarm goes off, and I CANT MOVE. D:

I just lie in bed til about 9:30. Still feeling like crap, so I'm like "fuck it" and call my boss to let him know I'm sick and taking off work tomorrow. Taking a sick day at a small company like mine tends to cause mass panic, as the bosses have to scramble to get the part-timers to cover lessons (or that failing, themselves). Also doesn't help that I teach five classes tomorrow, but I feel terrible. Plus, I have taken a sick day since November 2007!

Going to spend the day huddled in bed. Might at least do laundry. Too weak for anything else.

Hanami plans for Yoshino got canned due to rain, so met up with Kate, Allison and Dee for lunch, cake and shopping.

OMG DID WE EVER SHOP. I bought a jsk and some socks from Bodyline, socks from IW, and a gorgeous skirt and pillbox aristo hat from Atelier Pierrot. Kate and Tara will be twins as they bought the same dress, too! Brigid and Ping also came along, and they both made some nice purchases from H--LOL BRIGID AND I UNINTENTIONALLY HAVE THE SAME WHITE CARDIGAN.

Rest of details are on Tara's lj here. YES I AM LAZY WHAT OF IT

Saw this on another cooking program, and they thankfully had a website for reference this time!

Points to remember for next time: MUCH LESS Worcestershire sauce, more curry. I didn't make it spicy, but perhaps I will add a small amount of red pepper next time I make this.

bitter gaijin SMASH!

My spin on some deep-fried chicken marinade I saw on TV today. Only things I changed were using plum paste instead of lemon as a garnish, because plums + chicken = EPIC WIN.

Not bad for a first try, but I will remember to get essentials for my kitchen in the future, like paper towels and a deep-fry rack.
